Business Strategy - essential for your business
Getting the right business strategy is arguably the most important activity in which the executive team of any organisation
engage. It can be the means to direct the business, improvements must earn their keep. The money and effort invested in improvements
is a precious commodity: get it right and it will pay back handsomely, get it wrong and, at best, the opportunity will be
wasted. Three questions face any organisation serious about continuous improvement:
- What opportunities will the business environment give us?
- What roadblocks will we face?
- What do we need to add to our existing capabilities to exploit the opportunities and avoid
the roadblocks?
At CCL we use a family of techniques called The Strategic Gridİ Framework for environmental scanning, documenting
and assessing existing strategies and capabilities, creating new strategies and building action plans.

This
methodology consists of three time-sequenced planes for Environmental Factors, Strategic Direction and Tools and Enablers.
Factors in each plane are connected by hypertext links to allow the Strategy to be maintained and adapted.
In addition, the Strategic Gridİ Framework incorporates a number of subsidiary techniques, such as Product and
Services Portfolio Analysis and Competitive Arena Analysis. We even have a tool to describe our Client’s business and,
by using the tool to develop the future view, we are able to build a concrete and realistic vision. Each of these techniques
is state-of the-art and brings unparalleled clarity to the strategic planning process.
Our experience with the Strategic Grid Framework
The Strategic Gridİ Framework is applicable to any sector of business and any form of organisation. We have used it
to create new and vibrant strategies in a wide range of organisations from multinationals to partnerships. We have even used
it to help a Client improve their understanding of their key clients and their strategies.
We work alongside our clients to understand and capture in the Strategic Grid Framework tools the developing business
environment, the existing business strategy and the existing capabilities; we frequently use CCL Maturity Models for this
latter aspect. We then facilitate a business strategy workshop to follow through the opportunities offered by the environment
and prioritise them. Finally, we process the data to arrive at a full business strategy package with electronic linkage between
each part and a comprehensive action plan at its heart.
